Austin’s Week 5 DFS Player Pool

At QB this week in cash I’m looking at Kyler Murray and Andy Dalton. This projects to be a close, high scoring game with a 47 point O/U. This is a very easy game to stack with a ton of value at the WR and TE position to let you pay up for those stud RB’s that we like. In tournaments, I also really like both sides of the HOU/ATL game, you can’t go wrong with Watson or Ryan, in my opinion. Chase Daniel in London is purely a GPP play for me, you can form a very cheap stack with Allen Robinson and David Montgomery and then pay for whatever else you want. They should handle the Raiders with ease in this one.

There is a ton of value this week at WR. Auden Tate and KeeSean Johnson are both $3,500 in the same game I alluded to earlier with Murray and Dalton. Tate figures to be chalky in cash games with 16 targets in his last two games and John Ross officially on IR now. Christian Kirk is also out this week, so look for Larry Legend to continue his hot start. MVS should be Rodgers #1 target with Davante Adams sidelined this week with a toe injury. I swear to God this is the Will Fuller week. I’m going to go broke playing him each week until I hit that 150 yard 2 TD game, but at $4,500 he’s shaping up to be pretty chalky at home against the ATL secondary that just got shredded by Corey Davis and AJ Brown. Perhaps, the contrarian play is to pay up for DeAndre and Julio, as most people will look to slot in Ridley and Fuller to get a piece of this game. I liked Robby Anderson a lot more earlier this week when it looked like Darnold would suit up, but this just means we get him at a lower ownership. The Philly secondary is still a matchup to exploit, even if it is Luke Falk at the helm. This is also the lowest I think I’ve ever seen Michael Thomas priced. At $6,600, he almost feels like a lock, but I do not have a ton of confidence in Bridgewater against this surprisingly good Tampa Bay defense. Diggs also returned to practice this week after trade rumors swirled around, so look for the squeaky wheel to get some grease against a Giants secondary that saw Mike Evans erupt two weeks ago. *This could turn into a situation to monitor as coaches have said they are unsure if Diggs will suit up for Sunday’s game. Keep a close eye leading up to inactives and fire up Thielen if Diggs sits.

At RB, it’s pretty easy to jam in 2 or 3 of the big boys this week with the value at WR and TE. My personal favorites this week are Cook, DJ, and Zeke. But if you want to pay up for CMC or Kamara, I won’t fault you. CMC has literally not come off the field and even if TB isn’t giving up much of anything to running backs, Kamara is a freak and heavily involved in the passing game and could come in lower owned, with Cook and Zeke priced below him in better spots. This also is shaping up for a David Montgomery game in London, with Chase Daniel at the helm vs a weak Raiders Defense. Monty saw a spike in touches last week, which is exactly what I’ve been waiting for. I know Sony Michel and Joe Mixon have been pretty big busts this year, but look for them to bounce back this week in great spots. Chris Thompson could see 60-70% of snaps with Washington trailing heavily out the gate. He’s scored double digit points every week on Draft Kings, and I could easily see him catching 6 or 7 balls and ending with around 80 yards. Jaylen Samuels also is very interesting at $4,100 with Conner nursing an ankle injury. He saw several snaps out of the wildcat and even completed a few passes to go with his 10 rushing attempts and 8 catches.

The TE position is pretty gross this week. Who am I kidding? It’s gross most every week, but especially in one with Kelce and Kittle not on the main slate. In cash, just continue to follow the flow chart and throw Tyler Eifert in there at $3,300. ARZ gives up 19.4 ppg to TE’s, so continue to attack them. Austin Hooper continues to dominate and has seen 6 or more targets in every game and remains affordable at $4,500. Jimmy Graham could also benefit from no Adams against the Boys and see more opportunities in the red-zone with MVS drawing attention from Byron Jones.

Defenses are also pretty gross this week. I think I’d pay up for the Pats who are averaging 20 points per game, and now get Colt McCoy. The Bears are a little more affordable, but I really like the Titans at home with Josh Allen coming out of concussion protocol. Panthers have been solid and are at home vs Minshew’s mustache. If you’re scraping the bottom of the barrel, I don’t mind the Bucs and Steelers if it lets you pay up elsewhere.

*Remember to try and game stack in tournaments and run it back with players on the other side of the ball. There’s some easy, affordable options this week with CIN/ARZ and HOU/ATL.
