Austin’s Week 4 DFS Player Pool

Alright, welcome back for Week 4 everyone! We had a great Week 3, you can check out my picks from last week and see the final results at the top of the page. I was all over some Mike Evans after DK disrespected him and put Chris Godwin ahead of him in salary. Golladay was in a smash spot, but it was Marvin Jones who stole the show. I’m going back to the well this week, as he gets another juicy matchup against Kansas City at home. (Other notable hits: Russell Wilson, Danny Dimes, Kyle Allen, Julio, Keenan, Dorsett, Ingram, Kamara, Pollard, Dissly, Hooper, Olsen)

So, without further ado, let’s dive in to Week 4.

At Quarterback, Russell Wilson is a lock for me in cash at $6,100. Last week Schotty unleashed the beast as Russ went for 44 DK points and attempted 50 passes after Carson lost another fumble. This week versus Arizona is poised for a shootout with the 4th highest total on the slate, currently sitting at 48 o/u. If you would prefer to pay down, I think Danny Dimes is in play again this week against a putrid Washington defense. Of course, Patty Mahomes and Lamar Jackson are always in play, averaging over 30 DK points per game, it largely depends on how you want to construct your roster.

For tournaments, I like Jared Goff at home against Tampa Bay in the second highest proj. total on the slate at 49.5 o/u. Goff’s road/home splits are akin to Big Ben, and he’s not shown well this year; however, TB was just shredded by Daniel Jones in his first career game with far less offensive weapons. Look for the Rams to run it up at home Sunday and try to right the ship. Matthew Stafford is in the shootout of the week at home with Patrick Mahomes coming to town. You’ve got to get some exposure to this game, period. I also really like Deshaun Watson at home against Carolina this week. Watson has looked great this year (if you ignore that tough Jacksonville game) and I just keep waiting for that 7/150/2 game from Will Fuller. This is a very affordable game to stack and with Hopkins at the top of the board in price, you could get the best WR in the game at low ownership.

There are a lot of Wide Receivers this week in great spots and with our value options at RB, it’s not hard to pay up this week. Keenan Allen, Kenny Golladay, Tyler Lockett, Cooper Kupp, and Terry McLaurin (OUT) are all in smash spots this week. It looks like McLaurin popped up on the injury report with a soft tissue injury late in the week, which is never a good sign, but he is expected to play. I don’t mind running out DK Metcalf , Mike Williams (out), or Paul Richardson in tournaments. Sterling Shepard should feast against Washington and the Arizona WR’s remain very affordable. I also think the Titans are going to struggle on the road this game in the dome trying to contain Julio Jones and Calvin Ridley for 4 quarters, so fire up Matty Ice in GPP’s.

*With no Hunter Henry, Mike Williams, Justin Jackson, and Travis Benjamin Doubtful, Keenan Allen is a lock

*Parris Campbell, Preston Williams, Trey Quinn and Dontrelle Inman all tournament plays

Running Backs are interesting this week. I don’t think that I will be eating the Wayne Gallman chalk in cash, I just don’t think it’s necessary. Austin Ekeler is looking like the best play on the slate with Justin Jackson in a walking boot. Melvin Gordon has finally returned to the team, but it remains to be seen if he will suit up this week. Even if he did, I imagine it would be in a limited role to knock the rust off since the Chargers don’t really need him to beat Miami. I think Kerryon Johnson is a lock to see 20 opportunities in this game against the Chiefs and Josh Jacobs seems way too cheap against the Colts. It was also encouraging to hear Gruden they want to get him more active in the passing game. Marlon Mack is also in a great spot at home vs the Raiders and has seen at least 3 targets the past 2 games. It looks like TY Hilton is going to sit this one out, so, Brissett should lean more on the run game. If you want to pay all the way up for CMC, that’s fine, I have no problems there. Dalvin Cook has entered the upper echelon of elite backs that are “match-up proof,” but he’s now appropriately priced, and I’d prefer not to play him in a tough road matchup against the Bears. I know Todd Gurley hasn’t been the same, but if he can’t get it done at home versus Tampa Bay after McVay said he wants to feed him, he never will. This could be the last ride, but I’m willing to get back on the horse one more time.

*With McLaurin out, Chris Thompson becomes a great pivot off Gallman Chalk

Tight End is very simple this week. You lock in Will Dissly at $3,600 and don’t think twice. Dissly has caught 11/12 targets for 112 yards & 3 touchdowns the last two weeks. He now faces the softest defense in the league against the TE position. The Cardinals have been eviscerated by Greg Olsen, Mark Andrews, and TJ Hockensen. Don’t overthink this one. I understand if you want to pivot in tournaments, so Evan Engram and Kelce are always great plays if you are paying up. Darren Waller has been absolutely nuts this year, and I like Hooper to continue his quiet domination against the Titans defense who will have their hands full with Ridley and Julio.

It looks like you’re going to have to pay up at Defense this week. They’re all very close in price, so pick your poison. The Rams are my personal favorite at home versus Jameis Winston. On the other hand, if you are paying way down, the Bucs have improved on the defensive side of the ball and Goff has not looked great to start the season, so, I could see some sacks with the loss of Roger Saffold and potential interceptions going their way.
